This is a lovely vintage Art Deco opalescent art glass shallow bowl from the French maker Sabino in the Hirondelle (Swallows) pattern. This piece is a nicely detailed bowl with different images of swallow birds spreading its wings or flying. This piece has a beautiful multi-colored sheen with an exceptional lit-from-within effect. It is a gorgeous vintage Sabino France opalescent Art Glass centerpiece bowl from the 1920's-30's. This lovely centerpiece is decorated with six swallows in flight molded in relief on the bottom of the glass. The glass has a rich opalescence found in the earlier pieces of Sabino glass. The piece is just over 1 5/8 inches tall and just under 8 inches across. A lovely design and very much in the style of Lalique. It has the "Sabino, Paris" in relief in the center, which dates to the late 1920's. A lovely addition to any Sabino collection. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or stains, was displayed in a china cabinet and well cared for. Will quickly ship USPS. Love to combine shipping. Thanks.
Info: Marius Sabino (1879-1961) was an Italian born Parisian who developed his own chemical formula for glass that has a frosted appearance and when held to the light, the molded design has a golden opalescent glow. It is opalescent glass which shows blue against a dark ground but lights up with fiery tones with strong back-lighting. The effect achieved, is a vision of three-dimensional translucency that shows the sublime Art Deco style. This is a fine opalescent art glass design bowl produced by Sabino of Paris France. It is a fine example of glass manufacturing of the 1920's through the 1960`s, before the company moved to the United States.
