Description

the dish
i can find no issues. to me, this is in good vintage condition. pretty gold finished compote with what i am calling a lotus-flower-shaped edge. very nice touch. inside are what i think are cherry blossoms (because the fruit that is manifest looks like cherries). the outside has that great gold+navy blue combination that i have seen in imari porcelain before. in the inside center of this panel is a flower and leaves with the flower feeling very much like a mid-century-stylized daisy. on the alternate panel, is an exotic bird with a pulled rickshaw/jinrikisha. a nice finishing touch is the outside has a ribbed texture.
from the highest point of the lotus-shaped rim to the opposite lowest point is 7". the highest part of the rim is 3 1/2" away from the surface on which the plate rests.
the marks(see last image)
(besides the red and gold foil sticker that reads «made in japan») according to
gotheborg.com/marks/20thcenturyjapan.shtml
, just trying to do a visual (non-japanese-speaker/reader) comparison, i think the mark may be tezuka kinsei, tokuyama, one that was used during the c 1910-50 time period. just being a very not expert in this in any way, given the style of the bowl, i am inclined to think it is in the more recent range of that period. it just feels that way to me and the daisies depicted in one of the alternating panels have a mid-century vibe to them.

the fine print
the images serve as the majority of the listing description, so take a look at them closely.
shipping costs have really increased—this is calculated into the buy-it-now price.
i am not able to sell individual items from items i have listed as a group. i just don't have the stamina to create new listings for those. i apologize for that. i haven't initially individually listed items because i don't have enough listing slots to so.
trying to downsize some, though extremely melancholically.
shipping time: i otherwise work more than full time and my health isn't great, so kindly excuse the longer handling time. if i am able to ship sooner, i absolutely will do that
. i appreciate you taking the time to view my listing.
