M A Hadley SHERRY Decanter Jug Vintage American Pottery. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
My mother was married in 1964 and received Hadley for her wedding dishes. She continued to amass a substantial collection of pieces through the 1960s and 70s to include this perfect and unused Sherry decanter. Growing up, I always thought this jug was made just for her: because her name is Sherry. I get it now - but it was odd then. Like all Hadley pieces, this shows that it’s handmade - little imperfections abound - but there is no damage. It stands 10” high with the stopper and is approximately 7” in diameter at its widest. There are a couple of little glaze pops and a few little crevasse areas around the handles where the glaze didn’t settle in before firing. This is pretty indicative of the older Hadley where the handles were formed at the top of the piece and pulled down and attached to the side - see photos. The topper is perfect, too. A wonderful piece for your collection - or a great gift for anyone you know named Sherry.
